Splash!

We found this awesome slide for a steal at a garage sale.  It was only $5.  We added it off the deck in back, which we discovered made a terrific water slide!

Princess Party

My Mom took us to Springville's Museum of Art Princess party last month.  We were pretty excited.  Ok, Waverly and I were really excited.  Savannah wanted to know if there would be animals.  I had to take pictures of the decorations for future reference, since I'm sure Waverly will insist on a princess or fairy party next year.  I thought these flowers were awesome!  Just made out of cardstock, but 3-dimensional.

We were first greeted by the Fairy Godmother, who put pixie dust shimmer on our cheeks.  I was enchanted by this, as was Waverly.
 Tulle going down the walkways.

The setting was splendid; perfect for princess tea.
Each table was set with a mini tea set, flowers, and organza.

The first activity was to have their nails painted.  Waverly, of course, chose princess pink.

What's a princess without a crown?  Next we decorated our own crowns.

This girl would give up a sister for a horse.  Or a dog.  Or a monkey, as we found out today.  Haven'tcha always wanted a monkey?

Waverly tried to find her prince.

Already sitting in boys' laps.  Houston, we may have a problem!

The princesses all gathered for a group shot.
Springville's Royalty helped host the affair.  Waverly was mesmerized by the "princesses".

The end of the event was a fashion show.  The moms had to write the script for the commentator.  We didn't wear our princess attire, but Waverly still wanted to walk the runway.  Savannah agreed to walk it with her.  They were escorted down the runway by this young prince, but Waverly would not touch him.  So Savannah was a good sport and was the link.  She's such a great big sister!

Waiting to be rescued by her fair prince.  Let's hope he's more like Rapunzel's and less like Fiona's...

I loved this statue in the gardens.  Not sure what it represents, but I want one like it.

The Bag by Irelynd Henry

In school my teacher told the class that we could have more friends if we knew each other more.  So, we each
filled a sack with things that represent us.  The littlest pet shop represents that 1. I collect them, 2. My favorite animal is a dog, and 3. I LOVE GOLDEN RETRIEVERS!  The book represents that I love to read.  The pencil, pen, and eraser represent that I have a pencil, pen, and eraser collection at home.  The paper fairy and craft paper and pipe cleaner princess represent that half of my free time I am working on crafts.  The clay pink haired repunzel represents that my favorite craft supply is clay, and last but not least the match represents that I like to play with fire (sadly).      So, that's a little bit about me,

Back to School dinner

Ok, so I shamelessly copied, again, a fun blog post I saw on Pinterest.  I love blogland!  We had a fun FHE back to school dinner with the kids on the first day of school and celebrated another beginning, while they shared the details of their days.  I love moments like these, and hope they will remember them.

We did our cupcake tradition again, in lighting the candle and making a wish/goal for the coming school year.  I think my kids are pyromaniacs because they all insisted in lighting their own and blowing them out multiple times.

First Day of School 2011

Where, oh where did the time go???  My little girl is suddenly old enough for Jr. High.  She was SO excited for school to begin.  Not nervous in the slightest.  I remember back to being her age, and she is leaps and bounds ahead of where I was at this age.  When I tried to help her organize her binder for her classes, she patiently listened to me, and then showed me how she already organized it and she had a system for homework, etc.  It was a huge Mama Paycheck moment.  That might have contributed to the tears that ran down my face as I stood at the back door and watched her walk away.  I don't remember crying when she started kindergarten, but something about this day was different.  I just can't bear the thought of anybody hurting her, and also knowing that Graduation Day is only 6 very short years away.  It's going too fast, and before I know it she'll be grown and gone.  Life's most joyous moments are often bittersweet, I've discovered.
She picked out this outfit in advance.  From the moment she found the shoes, she could hardly wait to wear them with her skinny jeans, which excited her to no end.  I love having girls!  This one inherited her Grandma's love for shoes.  Too bad she also inherited her mother's BIG feet!  Enjoy the shoes while you still fit them, babe!
With this attitude, she'll be fine.
First day of Fourth Grade.  Irelynd was a little less excited than her older sister.  She started a new school and was very nervous.
She also is growing up so fast.  This skipping grades thing is the pitts; it means I lose both my girls one year earlier than expected.

Awe, shucks!

For some strange reason, when I yell, "I need corn shucked!" I have 3 immediate helpers run from all directions to claim the job.  Too bad I don't get this same reaction for other chores.  Keaton is my little helper.  He stays with me in all things to be done around the house.  His favorite thing to do is vaccuum.  My future daughter-in-law is gonna LOVE me!

Clay Creations

We tried to stuff in lots of fun stuff while Grace was staying with us.  This day we made clay creations.

My favorites were the popsicle and swirl sucker earrings.  Unfortunately neither turned out:(
