The party set up. You can only barely see it, but I made the cute cupcake tablecloth on the table by copying one I found on Kara's party ideas. Love that site!
The treat bags. I found them months ago in Target's dollar section.
We made more cupcake jewellery: necklaces, earrings, and charms. It was a huge hit.
I realized I did not get the gift of floral design. This floral cupcake did not look as envisioned. Oh well.
Flowers were courtesy of my mother's amazing garden.
Because of the age of the girls (11-12), I only planned one party game. Then I intended to play board games like Cadoo and Curses. The girls ended up playing their own games, such as Ghost in the graveyard and making up skits in the basement. This game, where you tell the group something you have never done before, and everybody that has done it has to give you a penny was entertaining to observe. I found it funny to hear what types of things the girls revealed about themselves. Such as, never eaten a banana before. One doesn't own a single pair of jeans.
Next they came in for dinner of root beer and homemade pizza.
Then, of course, was cupcake decorating.
Since I have to have variety in everything I do, I made 6 flavors of cupcakes, and frostings to match. We had candy corn with whipped frosting and filling,
Cookies and cream with a vanilla buttercream,
S'mores with marshmallow creme frosting,
pumpkin with brown butter cinnamon frosting (that was an interesting and yummy frosting)
root beer with root beer frosting,
and peanut butter cup with peanut butter frosting
And what's a party without sprinkles??
The birthday girl
little sister
Can you see what Savannah wrote around her plate? "Savannah is soooooo awesome." She left out humble...
We used the relightable candles from her HP party last year. She was expecting it though, so it wasn't nearly as funny.
I had to include this one for the face Savannah's making.
I can't believe I have an 11-year-old. 1 more year til Young Women's. Where did the time go??? We are so grateful to have her in our family. Not a day goes by that I don't thank Heavenly Father for letting me keep her. She is becoming such a little teenager; I have really enjoyed her as she's gotten older. She is so responsible and dependable. She's a great babysitter, and hopes to start a Babysitter's Club sometime this year. (remember reading those?) She's fun to laugh with, and finally understands my sarcastic sense of humor, so we have fun together. Savannah, we love you and are so excited to see your personality and potential unfold as you become the young woman God wants you to be. Happy Birthday!
