Halloween mantle

Finally, my favorite holiday to decorate for!  I had to start from scratch here, so I made most of these decorations.
I spray-painted black some branches I picked up on the side of the road just off the hill close by.  I cut out bats from cardstock and hung them with thread.  I used a tin container of my MIL's and covered it in black fabric and ribbon and filled it with black tulle.  Great pull-together vase, I thought!  I used old bottles and filled them with colored water.  I had meant to cork them with corks and label them with some fun printable labels, but didn't have time.  I found the black and blingy crossbones at Tai Pan for $1.50, and the back crow at Dollar Tree.
I made the hat using directions from Pinterest.  I liked how it turned out.
My intent with this mantle theme was witch-based green, purple, and black, so I was excited to find this ceramic witch shoe at Tai Pan.  I love it!
Another PInterest project.  Very tedious to glue on all those eyes!  But I love how it turned out.  SO fun!

Autumn Mantle

I had big plans for the Autumn display, but didn't get to it.  The sunflowers were picked from our own garden; they looked much better full and not wilty, but you get the idea.
These wooden pumpkins were 5 years in the making.  I signed up to make them at my wards' Super Saturday, but never made it, as Brighton came a month early, and landed me in the maternity ward instead.  I finally dug them out of my project box and determined to finish them this year.  I love how they turned out!

Back to School mantel

This is my back to school mantel.  I made the blocks using some ugly Easter blocks I bought at a garage sale earlier for $2 for the 3 of them.  I just modge-podged some paper on and used crayons to draw the ABC's.  I love changing the mantel every month!  I love having a mantel that I can reach to change!

Independence Day mantle

It has been fun for me to see what holiday mantles I can create using stuff around the house, plus a few items I pick up for cheap.  Most of this stuff I picked up at either the dollar store, or from Joanne's on clearance.  I made the flag garland for about $3.  I bought a package of flags from Target for $1, plus a package of felt stars from Joanne's for the same, then I had the white ribbon and red, white, and blue tulle on hand.  I love how it turned out.  I love decorating in these colors!  Next up: Back to school mantle.
