Boston

Shutterfly in Lehi took these shots of Boston at 10 days old.  He was so good to sleep through most of them.  There are a ton here; I loved them all!

Bonding Time

The twins absolutely ADORE their new baby brother.  Maybe a little too much sometimes.  Boston will never want for love (or attention) in this house.

They are fascinated with his little parts.  I love Keaton's face in this picture.  I'm not sure what provoked it.

Two Days Old

Our sweet Boston the day after bringing him home.  His bruising and conehead have subsided, but his eyes had blood rings around the irises, showing the difficult time he had during birth.  Poor baby!

I adore baby feet and toes!

This was the quilt Aunt Michelle made him before he was born.  Perfect for his transportation-themed room!
We are so excited to have a baby in the house again!  We love kissing his tiny feet, hands, and cheeks, and can't get enough of his new baby smell.

Welcome Boston!

While I was really trying to hold this baby in until the 7th, so he'd bookend our family (Savannah's on the 7th, the middle 4 are on the 26th), he finally arrived on his own time.  We welcomed our 6th baby on November 6, 2012 at 3:12 a.m., weighing a whopping 9 lbs, 3 oz.  No wonder I had such a hard time climbing the stairs!  We named him Boston Macintosh Henry.  His middle name comes from an ancestor in Scott's line.  I had gone to the doctor on Monday the 5th, and was supposed to go in for an induction the next morning, the 6th.  The nurse had called and given instructions, and we were set.  After coming home from the doctor's office, I frantically ran around to get things ready for my in-laws and mom, who would be coming to watch the other 5 while I was at the hospital.  I was very pooped by the time I climbed into bed at midnight.  I kissed Scott good night as he said "wouldn't it be funny if your water broke tonight?"  No less than 10 minutes later I felt a pop and water gushed out.  I was so tired, I just wanted to go to sleep and get the last full night's rest I was going to get for the next 2 months!  I grabbed my overnight stuff as Scott called his parents, and we were on our way to the hospital 30 minutes later.  By the time we were passing Springville, I was in pain, and knew this baby would be coming quickly.  Scott may have run a few red lights as he entered Provo.  We left the car parked in the drop off zone and got upstairs as quickly as possible.  I kept praying that the "candy man" (aka anesthesiologist) would be available immediately.  I got much more of a taste of real labor than I've had with any of the others.  My hat goes off to all women who do child birth without an epidural.  WOW!  I'm a "I-don't-want-to-feel-a-thing-so-give-me-everything-you-got" kind of girl.  By the time the anesthesiologist gave me the epidural I was at a 7.  He cranked the dial so high that by the time the baby was ready, I couldn't feel my legs at all.  My poor, tired doctor arrived just in time to deliver me.  Boston was born about 20 minutes later.  He was pretty banged and bruised up, with a bruised forehead and a conehead.  And rolls:)
The names we had brought with us as possibilities were Boston, Roman, and Hudson.  Roman was the top contender, but I thought he looked like a Boston.  Plus, he was born on Election Day, so we named him Boston in honor of Mitt Romney (and high hopes it would commemorate his election day.  I'm still bitter.)  Keaton wanted to name him Trucker Butt, and Waverly wanted to name him Flynn Ryder.
Less than an hour old.  Scott had a cold, so he had to wear a mask while at the hospital.
You can really see his bruised forehead here.  Poor baby!

Brand new, and he has rolls on his legs and chubby cheeks!  I could hardly wait to hold him and cuddle him.
This picture shows his major conehead.  Boston's first bath.

All bathed and ready to be presented.

Scott had to go back to work that day.  I got to stay and cuddle my baby all day.  He brought the kids back later that night to meet the baby.  They were all SO excited!  Waverly had been waiting for the baby to come for months.  She loves babies and was very excited to have her own to hold.
Keaton was the one that surprised us the most, with his excitement over the baby.  He kept asking to hold him after everyone else had a turn.  He held Boston 3 times that night, and was so loving and gentle with him.  I hadn't realized how excited he was.
Brighton was very excited to have another brother to even out the score of girls versus boys in the house.
Savannah was the loving big sister/second mom.
Ditto with Irelynd
As much as I hate pictures of me, especially profiles, I had to include one so Boston will know that his Mom loved to hold and cuddle him too:)
We went home the next day.  Here he is in his going-home outfit.  He is so small in the carseat!
Although this baby came as an unexpected surprise, he is so loved and enjoyed in our house!  I can't imagine our family without him.
